The Threshold of Heat and Light

The Threshold of Heat and Light is a tall white cube. On its sides are questions: "Where have you been?" "Where are you going?" "Where are you now?" Pens are within easy reach, dangling from the walls, and passersby write on the cube itself the answers they're inspired to write. At night, the Threshold is lit to encourage and inspire passersby in their nighttime finery to stop and read and write. At the end of the week, covered in answers, inspirations, observations, and sensations, the miniature temple to transitions is immolated on its own sacred pyre. A lovely procession accompanied by musicians and borne by pallbearers in scarlet robes lifts the structure in its decorated entirety and carries it to its appointed place. The Threshold of Heat and Light then dies in flames and thus crosses its own Threshold and carries with its cremation the reins that pull the hundreds who have written on its walls across the lines of their own Thresholds standing between Where They Have Been and Where They Are Going. In the transcendent fire their intentions become their futures.
